Jason Aaron, entered comic books by winning a talent contest with Marvel Comics. His winning entry would see, him having a short 8-page Wolverine story published in 2001.
It would not be until 2006, that he would enter into the world of Vertigo Comics. His first work for the imprint would be a 5-issue mini-series about the Vietnam War called The Other Side. The mini-series would be a hit for Aaron and by all accounts be considered his second entry into the comic book world and would be nominated for an Eisner award.
After The Other Side, Aaron would partner with artist R.M. Guera to create Scalped, a fictional story of a modern day indian tribe who has to deal with crime, drugs, and local politics. Similar to the Other Side, Scalped would see numerous praise thrown to Aaron and would bring his name into the spotlight. The series would last 60 issues.
Riding high with Vertigo Comics, Aaron would soon be poached by former Vertigo Editor Axel Alonso to return to Marvel and work on titles such as Wolverine, Black Panther, and the Avengers.
