Brian Azzarello began his career into comics in 1992 but it would not be until his then-wife Artist Jill Thompson, introduced him to an Editor at Vertigo comics.
Azzarello would go on to be one of the first American creators to gain wide stream success in Vertigo comics, with 100 Bullets, a crime pulp story that tells a complex story of a crime family and what happens when the average person is given the opportunity to have a gun and a 100 untraceable rounds. 100 Bullets and Garth Ennis’ Preacher, would go on to set a new standard for Vertigo comics during the late 1990s.
Azarello would also go on to write a number of key crime stories for Vertigo comics including a 2-year run on Hellblazer. Azarello was noted as one of the first non-brits to write the magical hero.
